Akim Dharmawan,PhD in Behavioral Science and Health Education,St. Louis in New Orleans

Although Akim Dharmawan already has his master’s degree from Padjadjaran University and bachelor’s from University in Indonesia in Public Health, he wants to continue his studies to learn how to face the challenges in Indonesia of serious health problems such as such as maternal mortality, infant mortality, low life expectancy, malnourished children, and infectious diseases.

He has worked in NGOs for seven years, on maternal and child health, diarrhea and anemia, and health among orphans. Most recently he has been working for Mercy Corps for their program Healthy Snacks for Children in Bengkulu

His colleagues say that he has the technical background and interpersonal skills to be able to reach out to local volunteers and poor households, to meet day to day needs while still thinking of the big picture.
Akim will study at University of St. Louis in New Orleans for a PhD in Behavioral Science and Health Education. His goal is to learn how to become an agent of change in the community.
