Master’s Degree in Field Epidemiology – Public Health

Program Description:

  • Master’s (two-year program) in country from an accredited Faculty of Medicine/Public Health with a concentration in Field Epidemiology an emphasis (through intensive coursework) on principles of epidemiology, epidemiology of infectious diseases, methods of prevention and eradication of infectious diseases, principles of outbreak investigations, basic and advanced biostatistics, animal and public health surveillance systems.
  • The objective of this program is to support future leaders in animal and public health to attain a graduate degree from an Indonesia institution in medicine/public health.  Selected candidates will study the principles of epidemiology from an accredited education institution from a public health perspective becoming conversant with:

     

  • 1. the latest evidence-based interventions to establish and improve bio-security and surveillance systems;
    2. principles of public health and epidemiology, public health and animal system capacity development issues including human resource and program management, economics of veterinary science, decentralization and governance, quality assurance, environmental health, and behavior change and communication; and
    3. mastering the technical tools applied in bio-security and surveillance, monitoring and evaluation of public and animal health programs, bio-statistical and epidemiological analysis, and public and animal health research.

 

Target Participants:

  • Eligible candidates must come from Provincial Livestock Services, Directorate General Livestock Services (DGLS), Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
  • Every attempt will be made to balance candidate selection by gender, and master-plan of the Directorate of Animal Health, DGLS, MoA, on development and establishment of bio-security and animal-public health surveillance system.

 

Technical Qualifications:
Holds a veterinary degree from an accredited university at the time of application.Candidates with current positions in the Provincial Livestock Services, Directorate of Animal Health DGLS MoA who are designated to provide technical and conceptual assistance on development and establishment of bio-security and surveillance policy.  Specific preferred areas of prior work experience include, but are not limited to:

  • Prevention and eradication of disease;
  • Animal health governance – finance, policy analysis;
  • Animal health care management – quality of care;
  • Behavior change communication; and
  • Advocacy for animal and public health
