Program Description:
- Master’s program in the U.S. specializing in Energy/Environmental Engineering with a concentration in, but not limited, to Energy Engineering, Energy Planning and Policy, Energy Economics, Energy Management, Energy and Environmental Policy, Clean and Renewable Energy Management, Energy Efficiency Management, Energy and Sustainability, or Energy and Environmental Law
- The objective of this program is to support future leaders in the Clean Energy sector to attain master’s degrees from a U.S. institution in the Energy related subjects/Engineering. Selected candidates will study the principles of Energy Engineering, Policy and Economics from an international perspective becoming conversant with:
1. Energy Conversion, Utilization and System - Basic energy conversions – both fossils and non-fossils energy resources. Energy system for generation, transmission, distribution and utilization. 2. Energy Planning – Optimum supply and demand balance, considering the economics, the sustainability and indigenous resource utilization, and energy management. 3. Energy Policy – Development of policies to meet the planning target, which include the consideration of the stakeholders involvements. Regulatory framework to implement the policy, to include cost of service pricing, targeted subsidy to mitigate the impact, other political/social and environmental considerations; 4. Regulatory Reform – What reform to the existing regulatory framework is required to support the objective of planned energy development and policies? Particular emphasized on the policy and regulatory reforms to support the development of clean energy. This may need sector restructuring. 5. Energy Management - Demand and supply side management. 6. Rural Electrification – least cost approach to electrify rural areas (grid extension or off grid supply), pricing, organizational and management, and other social/political factor.
- Eligible candidates are Local government offices or NGOs concerned with Energy Conservation or faculty members specializing in Energy/Electrical Engineering/Environmental Engineering at accredited Indonesian universities in Aceh, Sumatera, Riau, Kalimantan or Sulawesi Provinces.
- Every attempt will be made to balance candidate selection by gender, geographic affiliation, and public and private sector employment background/affiliation.
