AED is a non-profit organization working globally to improve education, health, civil society and economic development. The AED home office is based in Washington, DC with offices in over 150 countries around the world. In Indonesia, AED manages the Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) Program, a participant training program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The goal of HICD is to train a new generation of Indonesian public and private sector leaders in priority sectors and skills, including economics, health, environment, education and leadership. The Program will focus on studies for academic degrees in the U.S, Indonesia, and third countries. The emphasis of the academic program is on Master's Degrees with a limited number of Bachelor's and PhD degrees being offered.
